August Monthly Tournament Results – Revised!

An error by your humble club director resulted in the points for August being distributed incorrectly. Bob Hickey should have received 5 more points, and Mary Hickey 5 fewer. The totals have been updated. (Sorry, Bob!) Thank you to Chris Yep for pointing out the error!

Chouette Anyone?

The next chouette that I can help host will be at 1:00PM on August 19th at our normal meeting place, KDB at Easton. Come on out for the chouette or even for some social play!

If anyone else wants to announce any meetups, please feel free to e-mail me at jason@columbusbg.org, and I can get the word out!

August Monthly Tournament Results

Another modest turnout this month led the group to decide on a 6-person round robin as the format for this month’s monthly tournament. After all was said and done, Mary and Bob Hickey were at the top of the table, each with records of 4-1. Owing to Mary’s head-to-head victory over Bob in their final round match, she takes first place for the afternoon.

The 45 points earned with the win moves Mary into a solid second place in the year’s standing. 3 others, Dale Berlin, Chris Yep, and Mike Rezai, split 3rd place honors.

The full 2012 standings can be found here.

Thank you to all who participated this month. The next monthly tournament will be held on September 9th, 2012, rather than the 2nd due to the holiday weekend. See you there!

CBC falls in USBGF National Club Team Championship

The Arizona Phoenix defeated our club team, Ready For Prime Time, 2-0 in the latest round of the 2012 USBGF National Club Team Tournament. Thank you to Stick, Chris Yep, and Mary Hickey for representing the club so well. This brings the current campaign to an end. If another tournament is organized next year, any USBGF members will be eligible to participate and form a team to represent the CBC.

USBGF membership benefits and other details can be found on their website: http://www.usbgf.org

July Monthly Tournament Results

Through an oversight on my part, I neglected to post the resultsof the July Monthly Tournament here on the website, though they did go out the next day by e-mail:

By group consensus among those attending, the tournament this month took the form of a 6-person round-robin. After the dust settled, Dale Berlin emerged as the winner with a record of 4-1. Mary Hickey took home second place honors with a record of 3-2. The rest of the field finished in a 4-way split for 3rd place.

With his win this month, Dale takes over 3rd place in the overall standings for the year!

The full 2012 standings can be found here.

Thank you to all who participated this month. The next monthly tournament will be held on August 5, 2012 at our new home, KDB at Easton Towne Center.

The CBC has a new home – KDB in Easton Town Center!

You read that correctly! We’ve just gotten a little too big for Max and Erma’s to handle us comfortably, so we will no longer be holding events there. Our new home is now KDB (Kitchen Den Bar) at the Easton Town Center on the northeast side of Columbus. The address and website for KDB are:

165 Easton Town Center
Columbus, OH
(614) 428-7529

www.kdbeaston.com

Overall, we’ll have a lot more room at KDB, and they are a little more easily accessible from the freeway. I’ll try to put together a directions guide to send out with the newsletter and post here on the site as well. I’d like to thank Max and Erma’s for being our host to this point. I’m very grateful to them for letting us play there, and helping to get the club off the ground.

June Monthly Tournament Results

The June monthly tournament took place yesterday, Sunday June 3rd. A crowd of 10 players were in attendance, tying the high mark this year set in March. The attendees included two players who traveled all the way from Michigan to visit – Jim Slomkoski and Paul Berg. A Hickey won the tournament again this month, but this time it was Mary Hickey taking the top spot, and moving into 3rd place overall in the 2012 standings. Bob Hickey placed second, defeating Dale Berlin in the consolation final.

The full 2012 standings can be found here.

Thank you to all who participated this month. The next monthly tournament will be held on July 1st, 2012 at our new home, KDB at Easton Town Center.

Chouettes anyone?

We held a casual chouette on April 15th at KDB at Easton, with 7 people showing up for a casual afternoon of play. The more experienced players helped to teach the newer members the ropes, and it was a pretty good success. The next chouette that I can help host will be on May 20th at the same location, with more information coming soon.

If anyone else wants to announce any meetups, please feel free to e-mail me at jason@columbusbg.org, and I can get the word out!

Want to be in a member directory?

If you would like to be in the directory, please supply as much of the following information as you feel comfortable with:

  • E-mail address
