{"id":758,"date":"2016-01-11T15:59:36","date_gmt":"2016-01-11T19:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.columbusbg.org\/?p=758"},"modified":"2016-01-11T15:59:36","modified_gmt":"2016-01-11T19:59:36","slug":"january-2016-monthly-tournament-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.columbusbg.org\/?p=758","title":{"rendered":"January 2016 Monthly Tournament Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We rang in the new year with a strong turnout for the month &#8211; in spite of the inclement weather &#8211; with a total of 12 players, including 3 newcomers: <strong>Gary<\/strong> and <strong>Caitlin Kleinpaste<\/strong>, and <strong>Chris Gegas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mike Rezai<\/strong>, current Cincinnati Player of the Year, won the first tournament of the year with a win in the main bracket final over <strong>Trevor Dierkes<\/strong>, who took second place for the month. In the consolation final, it was a battle of the Chrises in which <strong>Chris Yep<\/strong> defeated <strong>Chris Gegas<\/strong> for third place.<\/p>\n<p>In what is probably a first for the club, <strong>Chris Yep<\/strong> actually notched 2 third place wins on Sunday, as the December consolation final was played as well. In that match, Chris defeated <strong>Edwin Jones<\/strong> and earned 27 Masters Points for 2015. This finalizes the Masters Points totals for 2015, and puts Chris exactly 100 points behind 2015 Player of the Year <strong>Jeff Boester<\/strong> and in second place for the year.<\/p>\n<p>Updated Masters Points standings for both 2015 and 2016 can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.columbusbg.org\/?page_id=18\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to <strong>Mike<\/strong>, <strong>Trevor<\/strong>, and <strong>Chris Yep<\/strong> on their finishes, and welcome to our newcomers: <strong>Gary<\/strong>, <strong>Caitlin<\/strong>, and <strong>Chris Gegas<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all who came out to play today. I am very pleased with the continued strong participation! The next monthly tournament will be held on February 21st &#8211; moved out by one week due to the conflict with Valentine&#8217;s Day.
